Dime isn't for everyone.

It's a pretty strict envelope budgeting app meant to enforce discipline. It makes you track every penny and requires some effort and commitment.
That being said, if you're up for the challenge, let's go.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is Dime?

^
Dime is a budgeting tool made by Marc Beepath (me). It began as a side project to help me manage my own finances. It's based off YNAB,which I've used for years but it costs $15/month! I felt that I could make something better, simpler, and free. So I did.

How does envelope budgeting work?

^
Envelope budgeting is a method where you divide all your money from all your accounts into different categories (like envelopes). When you get income it goes to the Pot (like a giant spending pool) and then you allocate it to these envelopes. When you spend, you take from the relevant envelope. This helps you avoid overspending.

Why is it so hardcore?

^
Dime is less flexible than other budgeting tools intentionally due to my own ethos that lots of choices are a bad thing (and can be pretty confusing). It is the most difficult thing in the world to build something that is simple. Therefore, I needed to boil things down to its essence. I took everything that I didn't think was important and removed it.
